1:How I spent my last weekend
It was really interesting as it was one of my dreams. We had planned to go to Polonnaruwa during the weekend. We got up early morning and set off on Saturday. Two of my friends too join us. The vehicle was much spacious and we were so free and happy. On the way we stopped for tea and continued the journey. We were highly taken up by the beauty of the countryside. Also it was thrilling to see the abrupt appearance of wild elephants here and there by the road side. We reached Medirigiriya at about 12.30p.m. and visited Watadageya and some other famous ruins. They were really wonderful. The whole environment was so serene. We had our lunch under a shady tree in front of the lake which was full of white lotuses. Slowly we moved ahead towards the ancient city. Enjoyed looking around all the ruins and temples with great pride and awe. I felt a tinge of sorrow when we left those marvellous statues.
2:Our School Sports meet
There were many events like races, jumps, throws, hop-skip-jump, basketball, tennis, musical chairs, etc. There were obstacle and walking races too. The most popular were the marble-and-spoon-in-the-mouth and sack races. Races were also arranged for the staff, teachers and parents. The participating students were divided according to age. We have four different houses. Flags of different colors were fluttering all around the ground. All the spectators were seated on chairs beside the ground.
Our sports' teacher conducted all the events with the help of few other teachers. The sports commenced at 9 a.m. with drill and march past. The participants lined up before the start of every event and they were cheered by the spectators. They all wore vests and socks of their house colors.
The winners were given medals and cups. Unsuccessful contestants were given participation certificates. Throughout the year we have lots of activities like football, volleyball, table tennis, etc. The winners of all these events were also awarded on this day. At 4.30 p.m. our principal delivered the closing speech. He was cheered by the students, staff and parents alike. He declared holiday on the following day. Finally our annual sports day was concluded with the final march past. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and returned home with three medals.

The computer runs on a three-step cycle namely input, process, and output. Also, the computer follows this cycle in every process it was asked to do. In simple words, the process can be explained in this way. The data which we feed into the computer is input, the work CPU do is process and the result which the computer give is output.

The simple computer basically consists of CPU, monitor, mouse, and keyboard. Also, there are hundreds of other computer parts that can be attached to it. These other parts include a printer, laser pen, scanner, etc.
The computer is categorized into many different types like supercomputers, mainframes, personal computers (desktop), PDAs, laptop, etc. The mobile phone is also a type of computer because it fulfills all the criteria of being a computer.
Uses of Computer in Various Fields
As the usage of computer increased it became a necessity for almost every field to use computers for their operations. Also, they have made working and sorting things easier. Below we are mentioning some of the important fields that use a computer in their daily operation.
Medical Field
They use computers to diagnose diseases, run tests and for finding the cure for deadly diseases. Also, they are able to find a cure for many diseases because of computers.

Whether it’s scientific research, space research or any social research computers help in all of them. Also, due to them, we are able to keep a check on the environment, space, and society. Space research helped us to explore the galaxies. While scientific research has helped us to locate resources and various other useful resources from the earth.

For any country, his defence is most important for the safety and security of its people. Also, computer in this field helps the country’s security agencies to detect a threat which can be harmful in the future. Above all the defense industry use them to keep surveillance on our enemy.

Above all, I feel the quality that appeals to me the most is her compassion. Whether it’s towards humans or animals, she always keeps the same approach. For instance, there was an injured stray dog that was wailing in pain, my best friend did not only get him treated but she also adopted him.
Similarly, she saw a poor old woman on the streets one day and she only had money for her lunch. My best friend did not hesitate once before giving all of it to the poor lady. That incident made me respect her even more and inspired me to help the underprivileged more often.
In short, the bond I share with my best friend is one of my most prized possessions. Both of us inspire each other to become better humans. We push each other to do our best and we are always there in need. A best friend is indeed a precious gem and I am fortunate to have found that gem of my life.
